[00:00.78]Why Do People Dislike Other People?|[00:05.01] Some people don't like other people|[00:06.88] just because they look different.|[00:09.24] I think that is silly.|[00:10.98] I don't think that it is fair to judge someone|[00:13.97] by the way they look.|[00:15.46] Some people look very nice,|[00:17.39] but they are mean or cruel.|[00:19.70] Some people look very ordinary,|[00:21.94] but they are incredibly nice.|[00:24.48] I remember when I was in grade one;|[00:27.16] I saw a girl across the room.|[00:29.52] She had a mean look on her face.|[00:31.95] I thought to myself|[00:33.32] that she was probably not a very nice person.|[00:36.68] I stayed away from her,|[00:37.80] and played with the other children.|[00:39.35] Then, we had to play a game, and the teacher said|[00:42.71] that she would pick partners for us.|[00:45.01] The teacher picked the girl|[00:46.88] with the mean face as my partner.|[00:49.43] I didn't think that the game|[00:50.49] would be much fun at all with a partner|[00:52.57] who seemed as mean as that girl.|[00:54.50] I walked up to her and said hello.|[00:57.33] The girl's face changed.|[00:59.45] She smiled at me, and she began to talk to me.|[01:02.50] Her mean face disappeared.|[01:04.55] We had lots of fun playing the game.|[01:06.79] We laughed a lot and enjoyed each other's company.|[01:09.71] That girl became my best friend.|[01:12.45] Now when I look at her I see what is inside her.|[01:16.06] Sometimes she doesn't smile, but I know what she is like.|[01:19.48] She is a kind and funny person.|[01:21.91] I have learned that you can't "judge a book by its cover."|[01:25.81] It is not fair to dislike someone just because|[01:28.86] they don't look like you want them to look.|[01:31.53] You have to get to know a person.|[01:34.16] It doesn't matter to me what color a person's skin is.|[01:37.40] It doesn't matter to me if they are short or tall,|[01:40.26] skinny or fat or happy or sad looking.|[01:43.49] I judge people by how they treat me,|[01:46.29] and I try to treat people like I would want to be treated.
