[00:00.30]My Favorite Bedtime Story|[00:04.66] Every night when I was little,|[00:06.77] my mother would read me a bedtime story.|[00:10.44] My favorite story was Tom's Midnight Garden.|[00:15.17] This was a story by Philippa Pearce.|[00:19.89] It was quite a long book,|[00:21.82] and it took quite a few nights for my mother|[00:24.31] to read the entire book to me.|[00:27.73] In Tom's Midnight Garden|[00:30.91] Tom moves to the city to stay with his aunt and uncle.|[00:36.19] He is very bored at their apartment.|[00:39.99] They have no children, so Tom has nothing to do.|[00:44.90] One night, the clock strikes thirteen times.|[00:49.82] Tom knows that this is impossible.|[00:53.18] A clock can only strike up to twelve times.|[00:56.72] He sneaks downstairs and goes outside.|[01:00.20] When he gets outside, there is a wonderful garden|[01:02.82] that wasn't there the day before.|[01:04.50] The next day,|[01:08.66] Tom goes outside and finds that there is no garden.|[01:12.52] The garden only seems to appear at night.|[01:16.63] Every night, Tom slips out to this wonderful garden,|[01:20.11] and he meets some people in the garden.|[01:23.22] He meets a girl named Hattie.|[01:26.52] Hattie and Tom become very good friends in this garden.|[01:31.75] Some very strange things happen in this book.|[01:38.22] There are some coincidences|[01:39.46] that keep you guessing about what is really going on.|[01:43.38] The surprise ending is wonderful.|[01:46.30] I really enjoyed Tom's Midnight Garden|[01:49.16] and I was very sad when my mother|[01:51.40] and I came to the end of the book.|[01:54.27] I felt that I had visited the magical garden with Tom.|[01:58.00] It is a book that I will remember all of my life.
