[00:00.10]A Picnic|[00:02.26]
What a great day for a picnic!|[00:05.62]
We're not only having a picnic;|[00:07.73]
we're having a
big bike ride, too.|[00:09.97]
We did this last year
with a lot of friends also.|[00:13.58]
It was really fun.|[00:15.32]
We meet quite early in the
morning in a pretty little town.|[00:19.92]
The town is where the Niagara|[00:22.10]
River flows into Lake
Ontario in Canada.|[00:25.34]
The town's name is
Niagara-on-the-Lake.|[00:28.44]
Then all of the
people, fifty or more,|[00:31.87]
get on their bikes
or roller blades.|[00:34.67]
We go on a bike
path beside the river.|[00:37.65]
The path we take is about
11 km or 6 miles long.|[00:43.62]
There are a lot of other
people using the path, too.|[00:46.92]
We usually stop for an
ice cream treat near the end|[00:51.65]
or where we turn around
to go back to our cars.|[00:55.13]
It is just before the
park where we will have|[00:58.36]
our picnic, and a steep hill.|[01:00.79]
Many of the men
and boys go up the hill.|[01:04.09]
Most of the women and
children go back to their cars.|[01:08.44]
The ride takes
about two hours plus|[01:11.49]
whatever time we take
at the ice cream store.|[01:14.72]
After the ride is
finished, we go the park.|[01:18.27]
We have a delicious
"pot-luck" lunch.|[01:21.82]
Pot luck means
everyone brings some food|[01:25.24]
to share with the others.|[01:26.86]
We eat, rest, talk and laugh.|[01:30.96]
After we've cleaned up,
some of us climb the tower|[01:34.44]
that is there remembering a
war at that place and its general.|[01:39.23]
It is a steep climb,
over l00 steps.|[01:43.34]
We usually end the day with a
fun game of baseball or soccer.|[01:48.32]
Finally, we pack up
our stuff. Tired and dirty,|[01:53.29]
we head for home with good
memories swimming in our heads.
