[00:00.10]Working in my Yard|[00:02.80] I live in a house that has a small yard around it.|[00:05.91] In my yard there is a lawn and a garden.|[00:09.09] There is also a sidewalk that leads to my front door,|[00:12.45] and a driveway that leads to my garage.|[00:15.25] Throughout the year I work to maintain my yard.|[00:18.92] During the summer, I cut the grass that grows|[00:23.27] in my yard, using a lawn-mower.|[00:26.01] I like the smell of the grass when it has just been cut.|[00:29.99] But it's better not to cut the grass too short.|[00:32.60] When the weather is dry,|[00:34.41] I also put water on the lawn and garden,|[00:37.58] so that the grass and flowers can grow.|[00:40.50] During the autumn,|[00:42.49] many leaves fall from the trees in my yard.|[00:45.98] I use a rake to collect the leaves from the lawn.|[00:49.71] Then I can put the leaves into bags.|[00:52.63] I can use the leaves to make fertilizer.|[00:56.18] When I was a kid, I didn't like the job of raking leaves,|[01:00.78] but now I don't mind it.|[01:02.77] Another job during the autumn is to remove flowers|[01:06.63] from the garden before the cold weather arrives.|[01:10.05] During the winter, there is no work to do|[01:13.84] in the lawn or garden, because they are covered in snow.|[01:17.58] But I need to keep the snow off my sidewalk and driveway.|[01:22.00] Whenever it snows, I use a shovel to clear the snow|[01:25.66] from the sidewalk and the driveway.|[01:28.53] Sometimes it snows a lot.|[01:30.89] If I didn't shovel the snow,|[01:33.13] it would soon be impossible to get into my house!|[01:36.68] During the spring, the snow melts.|[01:40.10] I clean up my yard by sweeping away dirt|[01:43.33] and by removing weeds from the lawn and garden.|[01:46.94] I also put flowers back into the garden.|[01:50.05] It's nice to see them again after the long, cold winter.|[01:54.03] When spring comes, the grass grows very quickly,|[01:57.95] so I need to cut the grass quite often.|[02:01.00] Working in the yard can be very satisfying work.|[02:04.73] It's so nice when the lawn and garden|[02:07.34] are looking green and healthy.
