[00:00.10]A Summer Sunday|[00:03.04] Today the sun was warm;|[00:04.90] the sky was blue with a few white clouds.|[00:08.08] It was a good day to pick strawberries;|[00:10.44] it was a good day to go to the beach.|[00:13.61] I drove to a pick-your-own farm|[00:16.47] where people can pick their own fruit and buy it.|[00:19.71] There the fruit is very fresh and delicious.|[00:22.88] The owner of the farm gave everyone a row|[00:25.80] to pick their strawberries.|[00:27.48] Everyone was wearing sun hats.|[00:30.03] I knelt down on the straw between the rows|[00:33.02] and picked the big juicy red berries.|[00:36.26] I tasted one; it was warm from the sun.|[00:39.80] When I bit into it the juice was sweet and strong.|[00:44.15] When three big pails were full, I went to pay for them|[00:48.57] and picked up some recipes for some strawberry desserts.|[00:52.55] I packed two of the pails in a cooler with some ice,|[00:56.22] and the other one we would eat at the beach.|[00:59.46] I met my daughter at the beach.|[01:02.13] She had a soft pink blanket on the sand.|[01:05.06] This beach is beside a lake,|[01:07.42] and across the lake about 50 km away|[01:10.78] the large city can sometimes be seen.|[01:13.83] Today the wind blew cooler air across the lake|[01:17.44] over the people on the beach.|[01:19.43] There were children playing in the water.|[01:22.16] One man helped his son dig holes in the sand,|[01:25.90] and the water ran into the holes.|[01:28.63] One lady held her children's hands|[01:31.06] and walked down into the water.|[01:33.55] Families climbed over the rocks and sat on the last rock|[01:37.47] where the water was deep.|[01:39.46] Teenagers rode bicycles|[01:41.01] and roller blades along the path beside the beach.|[01:44.56] Adults walked and ran along this path,|[01:47.61] carrying water bottles around their waists|[01:50.16] We sat on the blanket and ate sandwiches of meat|[01:53.83] and lettuce and strawberries from the pail.|[01:56.75] We talked and read books and lay in the sun, relaxing.|[02:00.92] We wore sunscreen, but our skin was getting hot.|[02:04.84] How cold was the water?|[02:06.95] We walked across the sand that almost burned our feet,|[02:10.68] to the edge of the water.|[02:12.42] She went right in and lay down floating.|[02:15.09] I put my toes in and felt the chill through my body.|[02:18.76] I went up to my knees, then my thighs,|[02:21.38] but that was far enough!|[02:23.49] My whole body was cooled down;|[02:25.67] I headed back to the blanket to lay in the sun again.|[02:29.21] Soon it was time to go home,|[02:31.70] she was coming to my house for supper.|[02:34.82] We drove down the highway with the windows open|[02:37.30] and our hair blowing in the warm breeze.|[02:40.41] We cut the strawberries up|[02:42.09] and made a strawberry dessert with cake and ice cream.|[02:45.70] We sat outside in the backyard under the maple trees|[02:49.00] with the birds singing around us and ate our supper.|[02:52.98] It was a perfect ending to a relaxing summer day.
