[00:00.47]Summer Jobs|[00:02.64] In North America, many young people|[00:05.13] attend high school, college, or university.|[00:07.93] But during the summer months,|[00:09.49] most of those students work at a summer job.|[00:12.16] For most students, there are no classes|[00:14.77] during the months of July and August,|[00:16.71] and sometimes none in May and June also.|[00:19.82] Having a summer job allows students to make money|[00:22.93] that they will need during the rest of the year.|[00:25.60] They need this money because it costs a lot of money|[00:28.71] to pay for university or college.|[00:30.89] Of course, students also want money|[00:33.38] to spend on things that are fun, also.|[00:35.37] Many students have summer jobs|[00:37.54] that involve working with children.|[00:39.22] For example, some students work at children's camps,|[00:42.71] where they teach children various skills and games.|[00:45.81] Some students work as lifeguards,|[00:48.00] at swimming pools and at beaches.|[00:50.61] Some students do heavy work in their summer jobs.|[00:53.72] For example, some students find jobs|[00:56.39] as construction workers.|[00:58.32] Other students work in factories,|[01:00.06] and some students work on farms.|[01:02.42] There are other students who find jobs|[01:04.35] mowing lawns or collecting trash.|[01:06.91] Quite a few students work in stores.|[01:09.52] Some of these students have jobs as cashiers,|[01:12.51] and some have jobs putting products on store shelves.|[01:15.80] Other students work in restaurants, as waiters or as cooks.|[01:20.03] Other students work in offices.|[01:23.01] Some of them work as assistants for other employees.|[01:26.07] Their tasks might include typing letters,|[01:28.68] programming computers, or delivering mail.|[01:31.66] Some students enjoy their summer jobs very much,|[01:35.27] and they find those jobs to be a pleasant break from studying.|[01:38.69] Other students do not really enjoy summer jobs,|[01:42.05] but find their jobs to be a nice way to make new friends.|[01:45.35] But nearly all students who have summer jobs are pleased|[01:48.83] to have the chance to earn some extra money.
